The history of QUIZME

QUIZME was written to two purposes - to add more hands-on experience using APRS for KC1VMZ's RACES organization, and to give KC1VMZ an outlet for understanding APRS client/server architecture and implementation.

Notable events

2025-03-25 KC1VMZ puts out a basic idea on groups.io asking a growing number of APRS-minded folks about a new idea named APRSQUIZ.

2025-04-01 KC1VMZ gets the first version up and running.

2025-04-02 Initial feedback reveals that too many assumptions were made using laptops for messages, so a shortened syntax would be needed. And the name was too long :(

2025-04-01 APRSQUIZ gets renamed to QUIZME with an alternative simpler syntax to support radio keypad usage better.

2025-04-04 Lots of work to fix misalignments with APRS spec.

2025-04-05 QUIZME is up and running with a basic set of questions to prove the concept.

2025-04-10 QUIZME web interface running in R/O mode with optional registration and login enabled.

2025-04-12 QUIZME web interface to manage quiz masters, quizzes and questions completed.

2025-05-03 QUIZME deployed to cloud service to greater availability and reliability, and placed on its new FQDN.
